Selection Process

A grant review committee is chaired by Wiess college magisters and includes other members of the Rice community including associates of the college, faculty, staff, and several students.  Committee members review all proposals and select the recipients. Occasionally, the committee calls for a second round of applications in the spring.

Applicants are normally undergraduates but other applicants will be considered if the project enhances undergraduate student life.

Recipients are allowed one calendar year to use the awarded funds and any unused funds must be returned to the original grant.

Please note: The grant is not intended to provide funds for ongoing or established events or organizations. This is not an “infrastructure” fund. New initiatives or events will be considered by established organizations but preference will be given to new and innovative projects that have the potential to benefit Rice’s undergraduate population.
